The performance training that actually addresses delay

Most performance training teaches the theory of capability procedure. Useful when you’re three months into a process. Less useful at the point that decides everything: the conversation you should have had two months ago and didn’t, because you were hoping things would improve on their own.

The Right Call: Performance & Conduct puts managers inside five real situations and shows what happens depending on their choice — the delayed conversation, the wrong framing, the disclosure that changes everything, the gross-misconduct decision made on incomplete evidence.

Scenarios are drawn from real cases, anonymised, grounded in the ACAS Code of Practice on discipline and grievance, the Equality Act 2010 (reasonable adjustments) and current UK unfair dismissal case law. One licence covers your whole organisation.

Five scenarios
  • The Slow Build
Underperformance you’ve been hoping would resolve itself — and what the delay actually costs.
  • The Conduct Line
When repeated lateness or behaviour stops being a capability issue and becomes a conduct one.
  • The Defensive Employee
A formal process, a request for representation, and the difference between fair process and going through the motions.
  • The New Disclosure
A disability disclosure mid-way through a capability process — and how your duty to make adjustments changes things.
  • The Gross Misconduct Decision
Gross misconduct allegation, incomplete evidence, time pressure — and what fair process actually requires.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the training take to complete?
Around 10 minutes per learner. Five scenarios with three choices each, plus a short knowledge primer at the start and a key-takeaways screen at the end. Learners can pause and resume; the SCORM package saves state.
Can I deploy this on our LMS?
Yes. The package is supplied as SCORM 1.2, which works in any LMS — TalentLMS, Moodle, Cornerstone, Workday Learning, Bridge and others. You can also host it on your intranet as a standalone HTML file if you don’t use an LMS.
Does this replace our formal capability procedure training?
No — your formal procedure is specific to your organisation and HR should train managers in it directly. This module focuses on the decision points around it: when to start a process, when to escalate, what fair process looks like in practice, and the conversations managers most often avoid or get wrong.
Can I customise this for our organisation?
Not out of the box. It’s deliberately industry-neutral so it works across sectors. If you need bespoke versions with your branding, policies or sector-specific situations, get in touch — we offer this as a paid service.
Does the module cover gross misconduct in detail?
It covers the manager’s decision points around gross misconduct — investigation, suspension, fair process, the line between summary dismissal and capability handling. Detailed disciplinary procedure training is HR-led and policy-specific; this module gets managers to the right call about when and how to start.
What’s the licensing model?
One-time purchase of £149. Unlimited internal users. No annual renewals, no per-seat fees. The licence covers use within your organisation in perpetuity. If you’re a training provider planning to resell or use it with clients, contact us about a commercial licence.
